Deuteronomy 7:9 “Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.”

If he said it he will do it, if he promised he will fulfill! That is the nature of God. Scripture tells us in Deuteronomy 7:9 that generations have known his faithfulness. The same word he spoke even before we came into existence is the very same word he is speaking today because he is a covenant keeping God who is faithful to fulfill every spoken word.

Often times we neglect honoring God because we are pressed by life’s circumstances which give us a false picture that God has forgotten about us and our needs. We forget that in and out of season he has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. This is a trap from the enemy to rob us of our blessings! He knows that when anxiety is birthed all hope is lost.

God in his faithfulness has given us the key to receiving his promises and the key is;

“He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.”

Have you ever prayed for something with such an immediate need, only to feel like you waited forever to see the answer? Well things don’t happen when we expect them to. We might experience doubt and even try to control things on our own when we don’t see God at work in our time frame. Our love for God and our obedience to him is the key to our breakthrough.

Just like he did with the children of Israel in giving them his commandments, God is teachings us his nature. His word tells us that he is patient with us, he loves us with an everlasting love as a matter of fact he FIRST loved us even before we loved him, how long did it take for you to reciprocate this love? He kept loving you anyway!

In moments when we feel like God is not responding to our circumstances, he may be showing his patience with the people he so dearly loves. God’s ultimate goal is for us to know him, not necessarily to know the answer to our prayer. He will always keep his promises in his perfect, patient timeline.

Reflect:

  • When have you seen God keep His promises?
  • Are you still waiting to hear an answer from God in a particular circumstance?
  • What do you think God is teaching you as you wait on His perfect timeline?
